Things To Do Chicago And More Chicago Things To Do
A very lively place where students and fans are found is the Cubs home turf, Wrigley field. If you are planning on being in Chicago during game season, no trip would be fulfilled without going to see a game and having a hot dog.
The field where the White Sox have their games, Cellular field, is a family friendly park where the whole family can enjoy game and there is plenty to keep all entertained. If you want to go to a ball game, take note that it is much simpler to get a ticket to a Sox game versus a Cubs game. Plus, tickets are discounted on Mondays and Tuesdays. Thursday is only a buck for a hot dog which is a great deal.
Amongst the other sports teams, the Bears and Bulls are also native to Chicago, specifically to Soldier Field. Another national team from Chicago is the NHL Blackhawks who are close by and share a center with the Bulls.
If sports aren't really your interest, there is still much to see and do while you are in Chicago like sailing. During the summer a great way to spend an afternoon is on Lake Michigan, but take caution not to drift too far out from shore as the lake can be quite the handful even for the most experienced of sailors. If you don't have a boat to your disposal, there is a water taxi service available and also water tours.
Chicago is also famous because of Al "Scarface" Capone who made the city his home base after leaving his small time shenanigans in New York and became a well-known criminal in Chicago. Capone controlled most of the city until in the 1930's he was convicted, not for his numerous murders and other crimes, but for tax evasion.
Capone changed the way that people looked at Chicago, and his legend has become dark and intriguing. Today many tours are offered that give a glamorized look into his life and the happenings of the times. On these tours you will be taken to different places like where famous murders happened and be shown how the streets of Chicago were in the first half of the century.
Chicago is also home to many ritzy theaters and musical showcases which are world renown. If you want to get a bargain, then booking tickets shortly before performances and shopping around online is your best saving tool. If you want to go to the most popular shows Chicago has to offer, (operas, orchestra, ballet, theater, etc.) then make sure to plan ahead. If you are confused as where to begin with the overwhelming amount of options, the most obvious and helpful place to start is the Downtown Theater District.
