Deana Martin writes about her father, noted for being charming, debonair, dressed in a black tuxedo, a velvety crooner's voice and always carrying a cocktail glass. Dean Martin entertained millions of television viewers to comedy acts and routines with Hollywood notables including members of the Rat Pack on the Dean Martin Show every week in the 1960's. The Rat Pack included Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop, Sammy Davis, Jr., Deano and the leader, Frank Sinatra.
Deana's book, "Memories Are Made of This: Dean Martin Through His Daughters Eye's" was published in 2004 and climbed to the bestseller list in the U.S., Australia and the UK. The book continues to be a best-selling book around the world.
Deana and her siblings, Craig, Gail and Claudia were from Dean's first marriage to Elizabeth (Betty), who is lovingly remembered as a beautiful, vibrant mother. Deana is an entertainer in her own right and made several appearances on the Dean Martin Show singing and acting with her dad. She continues to entertain and has a syndicated satellite radio show.
The series of all 28 shows is on DVD's for collectors and fans. And a film based on Deana's book is in the works with actor, Joe Mantegna, directing and actor/writer, Bonnie Hunt writing the screenplay. Deana hopes that Johnny Depp, her first choice as the lead, will take the role of her father. As all things develop in Hollywood, only time will tell but the television series is memorialized on the DVD's forever.
